Villain character lured Priyanka Chopra to choose 'Baywatch'

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 27 : Starting the promotions of her maiden Hollywood film 'Baywatch' from India, Global icon Priyanka Chopra said after some amazing scripts, she chose 'Baywatch' as it is a big global movie and playing the character of a villain was something she found challenging.

While talking to the media, the actress said she always tried to make her career on the different path and playing villain was exciting.

"People didn't know me well, the kind of stories that came to me were quite interesting because of 'Quantico'. After Quantico, it was really nice that I got some amazing films. Out of the films that were offered, I liked Baywatch the most because one - it was huge big global movie and I was a Baywatch fan, when I was growing up and second - I was playing the villain in the film," said the 34-year-old.

"So I liked the idea that in my first film, I'm doing something different. I have always tried to make my career little bit on the left on a different path, that's what excited me. And after Alex Parrish, I wanted America to have something completely different. Alex was such a positive character, so completely bad was really fun," she added.

The trailer of ' Baywatch' introduces us to Victoria Leeds, the owner of a club by the beach, who also happens to run a drug business of sorts that brings all the trouble and mayhem to otherwise peaceful bay.

Armed with more than just a gun, the 'Quantico' star uses her sass and alluring nature to work her way through the only people raining on her parade- a team of "elite" lifeguards.

Directed by Seth Gordon, the movie also stars Zac Efron, Kelly Rohrbach, Alexandra Daddario, with guest appearances from the original television cast including Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff. (ANI)

I'm happy that 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' will release soon: Prakash Jha

New Delhi [India], Apr 27 : Overruling the censor board's refusal, Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) has issued 'A' or adults certificate to feminist drama 'Lipstick Under My Burkha'.

Prakash Jha, at a press meet on Wednesday, commented on the issue when Central Board of Film Certification denied issuing the film a certificate.

"I really laughed when I read the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) decision and the way they had interpreted the whole film. It was ridiculous to interpret a story like that," said the 'Rajneeti' director.

"We all know that in all societies, we have taken it for granted that women will have to look, behave, think and even dream in a particular way which is entirely male oriented."

"They will be part of our life but the way we (men) want them to be. Women cannot think, dream or talk about their career, sexuality or satisfaction which has now become a well understood norm," he added.

"Here was this story of four women in a very normal, funny conversation talking about their dreams, feelings, aspirations, bodies, sexuality, career and then what happened? A male gazing mind oriented CBFC gets scared about how women can talk about themselves and think."

"So I was very confident that if it's presented properly and a set of people look at it with a rational point of view, it will be understood. And that's what happened."

"FCAT order talks about the relevance and importance of the film. Nothing has been asked from the film to be deleted except 10 seconds here or there and a word or two. Otherwise it's a completely reverse decision of CBFC observation and one is happy and confident that you can talk or speak and make such films," added the ' Jai Gangaajal' helmer.

On a related note, the cast of the Alankrita Shrivastava-directorial includes Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah and Sonal Jha, among others. (ANI)

Lungi dance, aging issues: How SRK held Canada in awe with his #TEDTalks

New Delhi [India], Apr 28 : Shah Rukh Khan is second to none when it comes to bringing the house down with his witty one-liners, sense of humour and an inherent charm.

Becoming the first Indian actor to address a TED conference in Vancouver, SRK spoke on a host of topics ranging from aging process and humanity to his films. But what served as the icing on the cake was the special 'lungi dance'.

"For years, I've been a huge fan of TED Talks. There are so many people in India who would like to come out with their ideas and thoughts, and speak them in Hindi," SRK said.

The 'Raees' star also announced that he would be hosting the new TED show in India and that too, in Hindi.

The superstar may be aging, but that surely doesn't seem to bother him much.

"Aging is not a problem to fix or a disease to be cured. It is a powerful, lifelong process that unites us all," SRK opined, adding, "why should 'aging well' mean struggling to look and move like younger versions of ourselves? Ageism feeds on denial, our reluctance to acknowledge that we are going to become that older person."

Be it his speech at the Edinburgh University or the Dhirubhai Ambani International School, SRK is well-known for his philosophical yet quirky takes on life and the lessons it gives.

"Humanity is a lot like me. It's an aging movie star, grappling with all the newness, wondering whether she got it right," the actor shared, adding, "we had expected an expansion of ideas and dreams, not bargained for the enclosure of judgement."

The highlight of the show, however, was the 'lungi dance' - a routine the star has been following ever since he and Deepika Padukone danced to the peppy number in the promotional video for his movie ' Chennai Express'.

For the unversed, TED Talks is a series of influential conferences and videos, where expert speakers talk about new ideas revolving around education, business, science, life, technology and much more. (ANI)

Foxx recalled, noting he was about 22 years old at the time when he first met the boxer, and said, "I met Mike Tyson in the weirdest way, I was on stage doing stand-up years ago. I get to my Mike Tyson joke and nobody claps, nobody laughs. You know why? Because Mike Tyson was watching."

The 'Ray' star said that after the audience urged him to continue, a voice shouted out, "Yo, Mike said do the joke, but that s**t better be funny."

Following which, Foxx told his joke and received a standing ovation and personal praise from Tyson.

Foxx recalled another, more recent conversation he had with Tyson, in which the athlete confessed to being "happy" because he didn't have "vultures" in his life after he lost a great deal of his money.
The 'Annie' actor said, "That's the person that we want to show. We want to show everybody evolves. Everybody comes from a good or bad place and I think when we lay the layers on Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man's journey and the way we'll place it."

Foxx also explained that a great deal of technology will go into making him look like Tyson.

With the role of the legendary boxer, Foxx will have to physically prepare himself for the role as well, which includes a routine of 60 pull-ups, 60 dips and 100 push-ups every other day.

Finally, the multi-hyphenate showed off a few snaps of himself amid his physical transformation, proving that he's building plenty of muscle to inhabit the role.

Katy Perry supports Ellen DeGeneres amid toxic workplace claims

Singer-songwriter Katy Perry on Tuesday has spoken out in favour of American comedian Ellen DeGeneres, following reports about an alleged toxic work environment on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'.

This post comes after Ellen's popular show has become the subject of an internal investigation by parent company WarnerMedia following numerous accounts of workplace problems on the comedy show series.

However, sharing her experience on the show, the 'Roar' singer tweeted she only had "positive takeaways" during her time shared with Ellen and also on her show.

"I know I can't speak for anyone else's experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen and on the@theellenshow," the soon-to-be mother tweeted.

The 35-year-old crooner also highlighted DeGeneres' continuous efforts of fighting for "equality" throughout the years through her platforms.

Perry added, "I think we all have witnessed the light and continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love and a hug, friend."

As cited by Variety, the reposts of alleged "racism and intimidation" on the show was initially run by BuzzFeed around mid-July.

BuzzFeed's story contained a spectrum of accused racist behaviour, from microaggressions to jokes about mistaking two Black female employees with the same hairstyle, as well as criticism of statements allegedly made to another staffer by executive producer Ed Glavin.

Glavin and fellow executive producers Andy Lassner and Mary Connelly addressed the allegations in a joint statement to Buzzfeed.

Reportedly, DeGeneres, last week broke her silence to address the recent bashing of the behind-the-scenes culture in a memo to staff and is in plans to say goodbye to the show.

Katy Perry opens up about her relationship with Orlando Bloom

American singer-songwriter Katy Perry recently opened up about her relationship with English actor Orlando Bloom.
According to Fox News, the stars, who are now engaged and expecting their first child together, began dating in 2016 before splitting in 2017 and reconciling in 2018.

The 35-year-old singer recently spoke with Apple Music and dished on the relationship.

The 'Smile' crooner said according to Us Weekly, "For us, and you can hear that even in 'Champagne Problems,' which is a song on the record, you can hear that we're not flaunting how in love we are. We have been through f**king hell. We have been down to the mat and come back up again so far, and that's even what the song 'Witness' was about 'If I lost it all today, would you stay? Could you go down with me to the mat and come back up?'"

She and Bloom have "come back up again" since their tribulations, and things are better now as they commit to one another, Perry said.

She added, "I was testing that already. Your higher self always knows. Your higher self always knows what you're unconsciously saying."

"Now it's a relationship, but it's work. Dating is different than real relationships. You've got to make a choice every day to be in this relationship and to work hard on yourself with someone that's mirroring you so intensely," said Perry.

And Bloom is doing the same, she said.

"Like, he doesn't let me rest. He's not Katy Perry's biggest fan. He's here for Katheryn Hudson," she said referencing her real name. "He's here for building."

Just like many others around the globe, the two had to put their wedding plans on hold as the coronavirus pandemic grew.

"For us, it's about the partnership and it's about, right now, taking it one week at a time," she said. "We had a whole thing planned and that got cancelled, so we're just looking forward to a healthy arrival at this point in time. It's funny. It's like 'Don't make too many plans this year because it's real go-with-the-flow time.'"

Fox News reported that earlier this month, 43-year-old Bloom gushed over his excitement for their daughter, who they've teased will make her arrival this summer.

The actor said during a virtual appearance on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,'"I'm so excited to have a little daddy's girl. I hope she's going to love me as much as I'm going to love her."

Bloom also said he's looking forward to experiencing "that love of your life feeling."

The English actor also has a 9-year-old son, Flynn, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Dwayne Johnson is still considering a presidential run

Hollywood actor and former pro-wrestler Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has said that he is still considering running for president of the United States.

According to Fox News, the 'Fast and Furious ' star said, "I would consider a presidential run in the future if that's what the people wanted. Truly I mean that, and I'm not flippant in any way with my answer. That would be up to the people... So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground."

Johnson has spoken about his interest in politics for a handful of years, noting that he has strongly considered it in the past. During a 2017 appearance on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', the star said that he was "seriously considering" a run for president.

Despite having years' worth of projects lined up in Hollywood, the star still hasn't ruled out one day vying for the Oval Office.

The former professional wrestler is currently out promoting his new series, 'Young Rock', which premieres on February 16th on NBC.
